Service Description
A 3-week in-person series at Burr Ridge Birth Center! This class aims to arm you with the skills you need to self-advocate, cope with labor, and do your own research. This childbirth education class is designed to help you feel confident making empowered choices during your childbirth experience. This class uses a trauma-informed framework to inform you of your options during a homebirth, a birth center birth, or a hospital birth. Week 1: Introductions & Physiology 101 Build trust in one another & learn the stages of labor! Week 2: Your Options During Childbirth + Creating a Plan Understand the range of options available to monitor and manage the end of pregnancy, labor, and the immediate postpartum. Week 3: Comfort & Coping + Immediate Postpartum Learn comfort and coping tactics & explore your options for pain relief at home, in the hospital, or at the Birth Center. ~ Bring something to take notes with. ~ Bring your questions & be ready for conversation! Registration includes birthing person + birth partner. One additional support person (ie, a doula) will be invited as space allows! Once class is completed, participants will be invited to one 30-minute personal virtual session with the facilitator, where concerns can be addressed privately, very specific questions can be clarified, birth plans can be reviewed, comfort & coping tactics can be practiced, or topics that we did not cover can be discussed.
